Designated Survivor sets Breckin Meyer to recur opposite Kiefer Sutherland
Breckin Meyer (Men at Work, Franklin & Bash) is set to play a recurring role in ABC’s Designated Survivor, according to Deadline. Meyer will play the role of Trey Kirkman, who is described as the polar opposite of his older brother Tom Kirkman, who is played be series star Kiefer Sutherland. “Trey is smart, outgoing, a bit of a free spirit but grounded enough to have forged a successful career in the world of finance. He’s been estranged from Tom for years but they reconnect, as Trey becomes an important confidant and counselor to his brother, especially in personal matters.”
Kiefer Sutherland stars as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States after a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union. In this dramatic thriller, Kirkman will struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart, while navigating the highly-volatile political arena and while leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.
Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, Natascha McElhone as Alex Kirkman, Adan Canto as Aaron Shore, Italia Ricci as Emily Rhodes, LaMonica Garrett as Mike Ritter, with Kal Penn as Seth Wright and Maggie Q as Hannah Wells.
Designated Survivor is from The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios. David Guggenheim is the creator and executive producer. Executive producers are Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon, Keith Eisner, Jeff Melvoin, Nick Pepper, Suzan Bymel, Aditya Sood and Kiefer Sutherland.
Breckin Meyer created and was showrunner for the TBS comedy Men at Work, as well as starring in the TNT comedy Franklin & Bash.
