Brenton Thwaites is Robin in the live-action Titans!
DC Entertainment has announced that the cast of their live-action Titans series has found its leading man with Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Gods of Egypt) set to play Dick Grayson, aka Robin, in the upcoming series.
“Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC universe, and it wasn’t easy to find him but we have,” executive producer Geoff Johns said. “Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman’s former protege and the Titans’ future leader. We’re extremely lucky he’s chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character.”
The series comes to us from Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schecter for Warner Bros. TV. Thwaites is joined by newcomer Teagan Croft as the character Raven and Anna Diop as Starfire .
Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever. The show will be written by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery, Underground), President and CCO of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns (The Flash, Arrow) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl).
Comic book fans know Dick Grayson as Batman’s famous sidekick, Robin. After Dick’s parents were murdered during their high-flying circus act, Bruce Wayne became Dick’s legal guardian and trained him to fight crime beside him. But after years as part of the Dynamic Duo, Dick struggled to find his place outside the Dark Knight’s shadow. Finally striking out as his own man, he emerges as a leader, mentor, and father figure to his new family, the Titans. It remains to be seen if the series will have Grayson transition into the hero Nightwing or if he will remain The Boy Wonder in the series.
