Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming NBC drama Good Girls, according to Variety. The role originally belonged to Kathleen Rose Perkins (Gone Girl, The Skeleton Twins), but was recast. The pilot will reshoot with Hendricks in the role. Good Girls is set for a midseason debut. The show also stars Mae Whitman (Parenthood, Arrested Development) and Retta (Parks and Recreation, Fracture).

Good Girls is the story of three suburban moms (Hendricks, Whitman and Retta) who are having trouble with money and decide to rob the local supermarket at (toy) gunpoint. The manager sees one of them and they end up with far more than they expected, making things rather difficult. The show is described as “a comedy-infused drama that mixes a little Thelma & Louise with a bit of Breaking Bad.” Also cast in the series are Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly, Transformers), Manny Montana (Lucifer, Power), Lidya Jewett (Hidden Figures, WITS Academy), Izzy Stannard (Star Stuff: The Story of Carl Sagan, The Park Bench: William & Jennifer) and Matthew Lillard (She’s All That, Scooby-Doo).
Good Girls was created by Shondaland alum Jenna Bans, who will also serve as executive producer alongside Jeannine Renshaw and Dean Parisot. Parisot will direct the pilot for Universal Television.
In addition to her work on the AMC series Mad Men, Hendricks is known for playing a role on the cult TV series Firefly. She’s also appeared in the films Drive and The Neon Demon.
