Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction) has been cast in the comedy zombie pilot Sea Oak for Amazon Studios, according to THR. The pilot, which will be a half hour, is described as “a mix of zombie drama and family revenge comedy.”
Glenn Close’s character is Aunt Bernie, described as, “a meek, unmarried woman with no children in working-class Rust Belt City who dies tragically in a home invasion. Compelled by sheer force of dissatisfaction, she comes back from the dead full of rage and determined to get the life she never had. She proceeds to inflict a range of demands on what’s left of her nuclear family, including a quasi-stripper nephew and two feckless nieces, who live in a low-end subsidized hellhole of a housing complex called Sea Oak.”
The pilot comes to us from novelist George Saunders, who is known for books like Lincoln in the Bardo and 10th of December. Sea Oak will be executive produced by Jonathan Krauss through his Affiliated Pictures and co-executive produced by Lael Smith and Keir McFarlane.
Glenn Close was nominated for four Emmy Awards (and won two) for playing the role of Patty Hewes in the TV series Damages for FX, and then DIRECTV. If Sea Oak gets picked up, this will be her first foray back into television. Close has won three Tony Awards for The Real Thing, Sunset Boulevard and Death and the Maiden. Close received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for her work in Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons and Albert Nobbs.
