FOX cancels 24 Legacy, but is looking at an anthology series based on the show model
24 Legacy has been canceled by FOX, according to Variety. The show was a spinoff of the series starring Kiefer Sutherland that ran on the network from 2001-2010. This version starred Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton), Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Anna Diop (The Messengers). According to the site, the network and 20th Century Fox Television are looking at future iterations of 24. One of the options is an anthology centering on the format of the original show, which broke ground showing what was happening to the characters in real time. They are reportedly working with the show’s producers on the anthology idea.

The original 24 had 24 episodes a season (sometimes showing in blocks of more than one hour), each representing an hour in the life of Jack Bauer. It won the award for Outstanding Drama Series at the 2006 Primetime Emmy Awards. After its eighth season, the show beat out Mission: Impossible and The Avengers as the longest-running U.S. espionage/counterterrorism-themed television drama in history.
