Ryan Murphy to produce Post, a 1980s drama for FX
Prolific creator and producer Ryan Murphy has a brand new series at FX, according to Deadline. Murphy is responsible for a number of shows like American Horror Story, Nip/Tuck, Glee, Scream Queens, American Crime Story and the recent FEUD: Bette and Joan. He’s producing a new show called Pose, alongside Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. The show is set for a premiere in 2018.
Pose will be written by Murphy with Brad Falchuck, who worked on AHS, ACS and Glee with him, as well as Steven Canals. The show will begin production in New York in October, and Murphy will direct the first episode, as he usually does. Casting has already begun for the project, and is reportedly going to feature largely unknown actors. As you likely know, American Horror Story changes themes each season, but Murphy often ports actors from one series to another, for instance Jessica Lange (AHS, FEUD).
Pose is set in 1986 and, according to the site, “examines the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York City: the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.”
Murphy has a number of projects in the works, as usual. He’s in production for American Crime Story: Katrina and American Crime Story Versace. He’s begun work on American Horror Story‘s seventh season, which will revolve around the recent election and may feature a character based on Donald Trump. The next season of FEUD is taking on the relationship between Britain’s Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales.
