The Resident: Emily VanCamp to headline FOX medical pilot
Emily VanCamp (Revenge, Captain America: Civil War) has signed on to play the lead in the upcoming FOX medical drama pilot The Resident, according to The Wrap. It’s the story of a young doctor who is just starting his first day under a difficult but accomplished senior resident who, “pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine. Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered.”
VanCamp will play “Nicolette aka Nic, described as the attractive nurse who is Conrad’s on-again-off-again romantic fling.” Conrad, the doctor will be played by Matt Czuchry, who is known for playing Cary Agos in the CBS series The Good Wife. He’s also known the role of Logan Huntzberger in both Gilmore Girls and the recent revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. VanCamp is also known for playing Rebecca Harper in the TV series Brothers & Sisters and Amy Abbott in Everwood. She’s probably most recognized for playing Sharon Carter, great niece of S.H.I.E.L.D. founder Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Also starring in the upcoming pilot are Shaunette Renee Wilson (Billions and the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther), Manish Dayal (The Hundred-Foot Journey, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek, and the upcoming TV version of the film Dirty Dancing).
The Resident was written by Amy Holden Jones (Mystic Pizza), Hayley Schore (Code Black) and Roshan Sethi (Code Black). Jones will executive produce with Oly Obst and Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Magnificent Seven), with Schore and Sethi serving as co-EPs. Are you guys interested in watching The Resident?
