CBS has officially announced that Star Trek: Discovery has found its captain with the addition of Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, the captain of the Starship Discovery. Fans likely know Isaacs from play the role of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, though he has lent his voice to a number of other fan-favorite properties, including Star Wars Rebels, the DC animated films, and The Legend of Korra.
In addition, Mary Wiseman (Baskets) has joined the cast as Cadet Tilly, a Starfleet Academy Cadet in her final year of study, also assigned to the Discovery.

They join a crew that includes Sonequa Martin-Green as Lieutenant Commander Rainsford, Doug Jones as science officer Saru, Anthony Rapp as fellow science officer Stamets, Terry Serpico as Starfleet admiral Anderson, Maulik Pancholy as chief medical officer Nambue, Sam Vartholomeos as junior Starfleet officer Connor, and James Frain as Sarek, astrophysicist and father of Spock.
Additional cast members include Michelle Yeoh plus Shazad Latif as Kol, a Klingon commanding officer, Chris Obi as Klingon leader T’Kuvma, and Mary Chieffo as L’Rell, a Klingon commander.
Star Trek, one of the most iconic and influential global television franchises, returns to television 50 years after it first premiered with Star Trek: Discovery. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The series will premiere on the CBS Television Network with all subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live-streaming service, and will be distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media’s Space channel and OTT service CraveTV.
