Amy Acker joins FOX’s X-Men series as female lead
The Hollywood Reporter brings word on another new addition to FOX’s upcoming X-Men TV series with Person of Interest and Angel alum Amy Acker. Acker will play the female lead in the series, starring opposite Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs).
The outlet also reveals that Emma Dumont (Bunheads) will take on the role of the mutant Polaris (with magnetic abilities like her father Magneto) and Percy Hynes White (Between) as “a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.” Other confirmed cast members include Sean Teale, Blair Redford and Jamie Chung.
Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, the series will focus on two ordinary parents (Moyer and Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
From writer Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and director Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse), the new series is still without an official title.
“Developing a Marvel property has been a top priority for the network–and we are so pleased with how Matt Nix has led us into this thrilling universe,” Fox Entertainment president David Madden said back in July when the show was announced. “There’s comic book adventure, emotional and complicated relationships, and a rich, existing mythology from which to draw. With the brilliant production crew behind this project, it has all the makings of a big, fun and exciting new series.”
