Freeform announced today the network has ordered Beyond Season 2 and The Fosters Season 5!
For Beyond, Freeform president Tom Ascheim surprised the cast and executive producers with the announcement during their TCA panel today in Pasadena, California. ”Our goal for launching ‘Beyond’ was to give the audience outstanding content in the way they want to watch it,” said Ascheim. “The response has far exceeded our greatest expectations, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and we can’t wait to bring more ‘Beyond’ to its growing fan base.”
Beyond launched on January 2, and in a network first, Freeform rewarded its digital-savvy audience by making available its highly-anticipated new drama for binge-viewing across key digital platforms, featuring reduced ad loads to enhance the viewing experience and drive higher ad engagement. In its first week alone, Beyond has already amassed over 14 million views, including 7 million across digital platforms and reaching an additional 7.2 million Total Viewers on linear TV.
Based on Live + 3 day linear TV ratings for its 2-hour premiere, Beyond (9:00 – 11:00 p.m. EST) stood as the network’s biggest series launch in one year, ranking as the No. 1 scripted cable TV telecast in the time period in Total Viewers (1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (500,000/0.4 rating) and Women 18-49 (304,000/0.5 rating) – since Shadowhunters (1/12/16).
From Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, Beyond is created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland). Tim Kring (Heroes), David Eick, Steven Adelson, Dan Friedkin, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones serve as executive producers. The series stars Burkely Duffield, Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn, and Jeff Pierre.
Freeform’s critically-acclaimed family drama The Fosters has also been greenlit for a fifth season, which will bring the series to the momentous 100-episode mark. The network will premiere all-new episodes from the fourth season on Tuesday, January 31, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
During summer 2016, The Fosters was the No. 1 scripted cable series in its time period in Total Viewers (1.6 million) and across key Adult and Female demographics (18-34/18-49/12-34). The series reached almost 7 million Total Viewers, including nearly 4 million Adults 18-49, and generated an additional 4.4 million consumer engagements across digital platforms and VOD/STB. Overall, The Fosters was the No. 2 scripted basic cable series of the summer in Women 18-34 and the No. 2 basic cable drama in Viewers 12-34 and Females 12-34, behind only Pretty Little Liars.
Winner of a Television Academy Honors Award and GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Drama Series, The Fosters is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Bredeweg, Peter Paige, Joanna Johnson, Greg Gugliotta, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina. The Fosters stars Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Hayden Byerly, Noah Centineo, David Lambert, Maia Mitchell, Danny Nucci and Cierra Ramirez. The series is produced by Nuyorican Productions, Inc. in association with Freeform.
