Three More Join FOX’s Lucifer Pilot

Deadline brings word on three more casting addition to FOX’s upcoming series “Lucifer,” including: “24” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, an angel sent to persuade Lucifer to return to hell; “Suits” alum Rachael Harris as Linda, Lucifer’s therapist in LA; and former “Sleepy Hollow” star Nicholas Gonzalez as Dan, a gruff LAPD homicide detective. The trio join Lauren German and Tom Ellis who will lead the cast as Detective Chloe Dancer and Lucifer respectively.

The TV series centers on Lucifer, who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. “Sleepy Hollow” co-creator and Underworld director Len Wiseman will helm the pilot episode, which has Jerry Bruckheimer as an executive producer.

Largely inspired by John Milton’s approach to the character in “Paradise Lost,” this version of Lucifer first appeared in Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” (itself in the process of heading to the big screen), which writer Mike Carey expanded into a solo title in 2000. The popular series was published through 2006 and ran 75 issues.
