Hot on the heels of yesterday’s update, confirming the return of the entire original Wet Hot American Summer cast and offering a teaser trailer of sorts, Deadline brings word of four major new talents will also be appearing in the upcoming Netflix limited series, “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp”. According to the outlet, those names include “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, Star Trek‘s Chris Pine, Wes Anderson regular Jason Schwartzman and new Ghostbusters star Kristen Wiig!
Schwartzman and Wiig are both rumored to play counselors (the former the head of the boy’s camp and the latter that of a rival camp, Camp Tigerclaw) while Hamm is taking on the role of a “secret spy.” Pine’s part, meanwhile, remains a mystery.
All four will join Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, and Michael Showalter for the eight episode series, set to tell the story of the first day of Camp Firewood’s famous summer season, now fourteen years after the original film’s debut.
The series is directed by David Wain and co-written by Wain and Showalter.
