Returning from its midseason break last week, The CW’s hit DC Comics series “Arrow” continues tonight with the eleventh episode of season three, “Midnight City.” While yesterday’s clip offers a pretty good indication of some major plot developments happening tonight, ET is already looking to the future, revealing that the upcoming eighteenth episode will feature the return of Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad!
Titled “Suicidal Tendencies,” “Arrow” episode 3×18 will feature a new lineup of antiheroes. Cynthia Addai-Robinson will reprise her role as Amanda Waller with Michael Rowe confirmed to return as Deadshot. Amy Gumenick will also be returning as Cupid, enlisting in the Squad for the first time. The episode is also slated to feature the return of Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak (Felicity’s mom, who previously appeared in 3×05, “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak”) and the debut of “Grey’s Anatomy” star Steven Culp as a corrupt politician, Senator Cray.
The Suicide Squad is, meanwhile, preparing to hit the big screen in a very different configuration. David Ayer is set to helm the Warner Bros. feature film, already set to star Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne. Look for the movie version to hit the big screen August 5, 2016.
Tonight’s “Arrow,” meanwhile, is directed by Nick Copus and written by Wendy Mericle & Ben Sokolowsk. “Midnight City” follows Arsenal and Diggle as they confront Laurel about trying to step into her sister’s shoes and warn her to stop before she gets herself killed. However, when Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones) kidnaps the city’s Aldermen and threatens to kill them all unless the police evacuate The Glades, it’s all suits on deck. Meanwhile, Ray steps in to help Lance and the police force fight Brick, showing Felicity a new side of her boss. Malcolm tells Thea that Ra’s al Ghul is after him and his family and they must leave town immediately.
