The actor who once played newspaperman J. Jonah Jameson is making his own headlines now as Golden Globe winner and Academy Award-nominee J.K. Simmons is set to make his hosting debut on “Saturday Night Live” for the January 31 episode. The Screen Actors Guild nominee plays a malevolent music instructor in the film Whiplash, for which he is considered the frontrunner for Best Supporting Actor.
Simmons’ musical guest will be R&B star D’Angelo, who will be making his SNL debut along with his band The Vanguard. After a 14-year hiatus, his latest album “Black Messiah” received wide acclaim from critics and fans worldwide.
