Amazon MGM Studios has officially welcomed Babylon star Li Jun Li to the Spider-Noir cast for its forthcoming live-action Marvel series, which is expected to debut on MGM+ and Prime Video.
Li has been tapped to portray an unnamed series regular, who is being described as a singer at a premier nightclub in New York. Prior to her casting, she previously appeared in shows like Wu Assassins, Evil, Sex/Life, and Based on a True Story. At the moment, Li is currently in production for Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Michael B. Jordan-led vampire movie.
Who is in the Spider-Noir cast?
Li will join lead star Nicolas Cage, who has signed on to reprise Spider-Man Noir in live-action after voicing the character in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In addition, New Girl alum Lamorne Morris had also been cast for the role of Robbie Robbertson, who has been a long-time supporting character in Spider-Man stories.
“The show tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero,” reads the official logline.
Based on the Marvel character created by David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, and Carmine Di Giandomenico, the live-action adaptation is executive produced by Oren Uziel, Steve Lightfoot, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, with Uziel and Lightfoot serving as co-showrunners. The first two episodes will be directed and executive produced by Emmy winner Harry Bradbeer.
