The first images of Squid Game Season 2 have been unveiled, previewing the long-awaited return of the breakout Netflix thriller series and showing Gi-hun’s return to the deadly games.
The photos offer a colorful preview of what’s to come when Squid Game debuts later in 2024, focusing on Lee Jung-jae’s return as Seong Gi-hun and also highlighting other new and returning characters.

What to know about Squid Game Season 2
The photos reveal that, along with Gi-hun, the upcoming episodes will include the return of Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) in addition to The Recruiter (Gong Yoo). There’s also a new character played by Park Gyu-youn.
Although plot details for Season 2 are being kept under wraps, it is known that Squid Game’s return will see Gi-hun return to the deadly games to destroy the mysterious organization behind it all.
Squid Game, which focuses on financially desperate individuals taking part in death-defying games for a massive cash prize, hails from Hwang Dong-hyuk. He returns to helm the global juggernaut following his historic win at the 74th Primetime Emmys as the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and he’ll resume his role as director, writer, and producer.
Squid Game quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched series around the world. It garnered over 1.65 billion viewing hours and was watched by more than 142 million households in its first 28 days. Beyond its massive viewership, the series earned prestigious awards such as the Gotham Awards’ Breakthrough Series, the AFI Special Award, and six Primetime Emmy Awards.
