Dave star GaTa — real name Davionte Ganter — has been arrested for domestic violence, with the actor’s lawyer claiming that video evidence absolves him of anything.
According to a report by TMZ, police in Santa Clarita, California, responded to a domestic violence incident over the weekend, where a physical argument had occurred between two parties. While further details are unclear, the situation did end with Ganter being taken into custody by the police.
Ganter’s lawyer says evidence absolves him
The report goes on to mention that Ganter was charged with felony domestic violence before being released on bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date, and the case remains under investigation.
In a statement made to TMZ on Tuesday, Ganter’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, says that the entire incident was captured on video and shows that Ganter “did nothing wrong.”
“The entire incident between the parties is on video, which I am in the process of providing to law enforcement,” said Holley in the statement. “The video demonstrates clearly that Mr. Ganter did nothing wrong and, instead, tried to de-escalate the situation.”
Ganter served as a hype man for various musicians, including David Burd (known professionally as Lil Dicky), before being cast in the FX series Dave, where he plays a version of himself alongside Burd.
