Ted Lasso director Declan Lowney has spoken about the possibility of future spin-offs set in the world of the beloved Apple TV+ series.
Could Ted Lasso spin-offs happen down the line?
In an interview with Above the Line, Lowney — who directed the series finale — was asked about if there were any spin-offs in the works. The director noted that there were “quite a few clues” in the finale’s montage, including a hint at the possibility of Nate, Beard, and Roy running AFC Richmond.
“The montage has quite a few clues there,” Lowney stated. “Keeley pitching for an AFC Richmond women’s team — great timing — and that would be fantastic for her and Rebecca to run that team. Maybe they’d use Roy as a captain? Does Roy even [want to] stay on and captain anyway? And we know Beard looks like he’s going to stay in the country because his girlfriend’s pregnant.
“So there are a couple of spin-offs … maybe Nate, Beard, and Roy running AFC Richmond, or the two girls running the women’s team? I’m not sure about Judge McAdoo, but you could maybe do something like [Judge Judy] called McAdoo’s Court or something like that.”
Ted Lasso starred Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live), Hannah Waddingham (Game of Thrones), Brendan Hunt (We’re the Millers), Jeremy Swift (Downton Abbey), Juno Temple (The Other Boleyn Girl), Brett Goldstein (Derek), Phil Dunster (The Good Liar), and Nick Mohammed (Intelligence).
Ted Lasso was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. Executive producers are Sudeikis, Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer. It is a production by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
