According to The Daily Beast, The Bear Season 2 cast has welcomed the addition of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Will Poulter, who is portraying the role of a Dutch pastry chef. The Emmy nominee will serve as a key part in the Season 2 storyline for Lionel Boyce’s Marcus, who will go abroad in order to study making desserts under the guidance of Poulter’s character. His training is part of Carmy and Sydney’s preparations to relaunch the restaurant.
Poulter’s notable TV credits include the TV film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and the limited drama Dopesick. His performance in the latter earned him his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
What to Expect in The Bear Season 2?
“Season two follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, Sydney Adamu and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot,” reads the logline. “As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.”
The Bear is executive produced by Christopher Storer, Joanna Calo, Hiro Murai, Nate Matteson, and Josh Senior. The comedy drama stars Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson and Matty Matheson. Season 2 will also introduced new characters in the form of Molly Gordon and Bob Odenkirk.
For his emotional leading performance in Season 1, White earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. The show was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
The Bear Season 2 premieres on June 22.
