Yellowjackets star Samantha Hanratty took to Instagram to confirm that she and the rest of the young cast of the hit Showtime horror drama series have officially completed filming their scenes for the upcoming second season’s ’90s flashback scenes. In the acclaimed series, Hanratty shares the role of Misty Quigley with Golden Globe nominee Christina Ricci.
In light of their filming wrap, Emmy nominee Melanie Lynskey, who portrays Shauna Shipman, also went on to praise the ’90s cast on Twitter, revealing how much she admires them for their talent. Yellowjackets Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on March 26.
Yellowjackets currently stars Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Steven Krueger, and Warren Kole. Season 2 will introduce Emmy-nominated actress Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant) as adult Van Palmer, Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) as adult Lottie, and Elijah Wood as citizen detective Walter.
“Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama, it tells the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness,” reads the series’ synopsis. “The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”
Yellowjackets is created and executive produced by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. Executive producers are Drew Comins, Karyn Kusama, and Jonathan Lisco, who is also serving as the showrunner. It is produced by Entertainment One.
