The Last of Us Series Adds Three to Cast Including Voice Actor From the Games

As production continues on HBO’s The Last of Us series, Deadline brings word that the premium network has enlisted three new cast members in the form of Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), and Con O’Neill (Chernobyl). They will be joining previously announced leads Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the forthcoming series adaptation of Naughty Dog’s acclaimed survival horror video game series.

Pierce is no stranger to The Last of Us franchise as he had also worked on the video games, voicing the role of Joel’s brother Tommy, who will instead be portrayed by Gabriel Luna in the upcoming live-action series.  Pierce will now be portraying a different recurring character named Perry, a rebel in a quarantine zone. Meanwhile, Bartlett and O’Neill are set for the guest-starring roles of Frank and Bill, two post-pandemic survivalists living alone in their own isolated town.

In The Last of Us, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a pair connected through the harshness of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal circumstances and ruthless killers on a trek across a post-pandemic America.

Joining The Game of Thrones alums are Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy Miller,  Nico Parker (Dumbo) as Joel’s daughter Sarah, and Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) as she reprises her role in the video games as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group known as the Fireflies.

Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is an action-adventure survival horror video game that has already sold more than 17 million copies worldwide. The series adaptation will tackle the events of the first game with the possibility of additional content based on the upcoming video game sequel.

The Last of Us hails is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann. The project is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions.

Executive producers are Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog president Evan Wells and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. Kantermir Balagov is attached to direct the pilot episode.
