Manifest Canceled at NBC, Creator Hopes to Find New Home for Series

According to Deadline, NBC has officially decided not to renew creator and showrunner Jeff Rake’s sci-fi drama Manifest for a fourth season. The cancellation comes as a surprise especially when the series has been performing well on linear ratings and on Netflix where it has been on the number one spot in the U.S. for three days now. Fans of the series, who have been patiently following the mystery behind the passengers of Montego Air Flight 828 will definitely be disappointed as Manifest had just recently wrapped up its 13-episode third season last week, with an explosive cliffhanger involving the surprise death of the main characters and another unexplained disappearance of the plane.

Rake took to Twitter to express his disappointment with the network’s decision, revealing that they’ll try their best to find a new home for the series because “fans deserve an ending” to the story. The series was originally expected to run for three more seasons because the creative team had previously mapped out a six-season plan for its story when it was sold to NBC.

Manifest centered around a commercial airplane that mysteriously disappears, only to reappear five years later. While no time has passed for those on board, the world has gone on without them, and new mysteries unfold for the passengers as they seek to find answers as to how and why their plane disappeared years ago.

The series stars Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, and Matt Long.
