As fans of NBC’s “Community” know, one of the show’s many charms is in its tendency to embrace specific elements of pop culture for stylized episodes. Just yesterday, the series aired a sequel to its popular “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” (directed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s Joe Russo). Now, EW reveals that the April 3 episode, titled “G.I. Jeff,” will offer an animated tribute to the iconic 80’s animated series “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.” Check out images below of Jeff, Shirley, Britta and Annie as “Wingman,” “Three Kids,” “Buzzkill” and “Tight Ship”!
[G.I. Joe] was something from our childhood that was very important to us,” executive producer Chris McKenna tells the outlet, “…This one has a very specific story reason for it. I dont want to give too much away, but our characters find themselves on a Wizard of Oz-type journey through the world of ‘G.I. Joe’.”
Created by Dan Harmon, “Community” currently stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and, introduced this season, “Breaking Bad” star Jonathan Banks.
