Peacock has finally announced the premiere date for their upcoming Punky Brewster revival series, featuring the return of Soleil Moon Frye as the iconic titular character after almost 33 years since the original sitcom had concluded its four-season run in 1988. The 10-episode series is scheduled to make its debut on Thursday, February 25, 2021. In addition, the streamer has also released the first-look photo of Punky Brewster which you can check out below, featuring the main cast.

In this continuation of the iconic ’80s sitcom about a bright young girl raised by a foster dad, Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self.
Original series star Soleil Moon Frye is set to reprise her role as the titular character, alongside Cherie Johnson, reprising her role as Punky’s best friend Cherie. Punky Brewster will also feature new cast members Freddie Prinze Jr. as Punky’s ex-husband Travis, Quinn Copeland as Izzy, Noah Cottrell as Diego, Oliver De Los Santos as Daniel and Lauren Lindsey Donzis as Hannah.

The Punky Brewster revival is written and executive produced by Steve and Jim Armogida. It is also executive produced by Frye, original creator David Duclon and Main Event Media’s Jimmy Fox with UCP and Universal Television set as its producers.
Punky Brewster earned two Emmy nominations during its run from 1984 to 1988. The series was followed up by an animated series, It’s Punky Brewster, with Frye voicing her popular character and earning the show a Daytime Emmy nomination.
