The Walking Dead: World Beyond premiere date and new synopsis revealed
AMC has announced the official premiere date for their forthcoming new series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, revealing that the second TWD spinoff will be making its debut on Sunday, April 12 at 10/9c, right after the season 10 finale of the main series. According to Collider, the network has also confirmed that World Beyond is expected to run for only two seasons, a format AMC is reportedly testing with on all new series going forward.
The announcement also came with the release of a new synopsis which you can read below, giving us a better idea about the first season’s plot and characters.
“The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will serve as the third show of the television franchise, following The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. According to AMC, the series will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse. Some will become heroes, some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.

The series will star Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Aliyah Royale as Iris, Nico Tortorella as Felix and Joe Holt as Leo Bennett. It will also feature Emmy winner Julia Ormond (Temple Grandin) as Elizabeth, Natalie Gold as Lyla, Al Calderon as Barca, Scott Adsit as Tony, and Ted Sutherland as Percy.

The Walking Dead spinoff will have writer and producer Matt Negrete showrunning alongside chief content officer Scott M. Gimple. The series has been given a 10-episode order. The first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, is set to return for its sixth season sometime next year with The Walking Dead scheduled to premiere the second half of its tenth season on February 23, 2020.
