According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee Daniels and country-music star Brian Kelley are teaming up for the ABC drama Moss Landing. The duo will executive produce the project from The Son creator Lee Shipman.

Per the report, the drama focuses on a small Florida coastal town, and follows the “sweeping love story of disgraced country star Marion James and Sky Miller, an African American gospel and soul singer.” The plot would focus on their mysterious pasts, unraveling each over the course of the seasons, and follow the highs and lows of Marion and Sky’s life all told via genre-blending musical numbers.

Daniels, who co-created the popular series Empire, is also working on Cupcake Men, which focuses on two ex-NFL players who begin a cupcake shop together. He also has a hand in the Fox soap Our Kind of People.
