Shooting begins on Dickinson season 2 with Finn Jones joining cast

Dickinson is set during Emily Dickinson’s era with a modern sensibility and tone. It takes viewers into the world of Emily, audaciously exploring the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesn’t fit into her own time through her imaginative point of view. Dickinson, written by Alena Smith (The AffairThe Newsroom), is Emily’s coming-of-age story — one woman’s fight to get her voice heard.

It stars Jane Krakowski, Toby Huss, Adrian Enscoe, Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt, John Mulaney, Wiz Khalifa and Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), who is set to lead the series as iconic poet Emily Dickinson. Though it’s currently unclear as to who he is set to play, it is interesting to see Jones join the series following the cancellation of his Marvel Netflix series in late 2018, with the actor visible in the far right of Smith’s photo sitting next to Steinfeld.

David Gordon Green (Pineapple ExpressVice Principals) is set to direct and will also executive produce alongside Smith, Michael Sugar (Spotlight) and Ashley Zalta (Maniac) for Sugar23 Productions, as well as Alex Goldstone for Anonymous Content, and Darlene Hunt (The Big C). The series hails from Paul Lee’s independent studio, wiip.

The new series debuted alongside Apple TV+‘s other new shows such as Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s The Morning Show, Jason Momoa’s big scale sci-fi series See and Ghostwriter reboot series. It earned the official second season order from the new streaming service alongside MorningSee and the astronaut drama For All Mankind early this month, among which it has received the highest reviews from critics and audiences alike.
