Based on the novel Brand New Cherry Flavor: A Novel of the Occult by Todd Grimson, the story follows Lisa Nova (Salazar), an aspiring film director in the sun-drenched but seamy world of 1990 Los Angeles who embarks on a mind-altering journey from the streets of Beverly Hills to the forests of Brazil on a journey of supernatural revenge.
Salazar will lead a cast that includes Keener, who also stars on Showtime’s Kidding, Jacinto, whose breakout role on The Good Place is coming to an end with the series finale on January 30, Eric Lange (Escape at Dannemora) and Jeff Ward, also the star of an ending series on Marvel’s Agents of Shield.

Arkasha Stevenson, who helmed the third season of Channel Zero, is set to direct the pilot for the adaptation.
