Darren Criss to Star in Ryan Murphy’s New Netflix Series Hollywood

Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Darren Criss took to Instagram to reveal that he is set to star in creator Ryan Murphy’s upcoming drama titled Hollywood which was given a straight-to-series order by Netflix. Criss also announced that he would be serving as an executive producer alongside Murphy.

This project will mark the fourth collaboration between Criss and Murphy, who have worked on the musical drama series Glee, American Horror Story: Hotel and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story with the latter earning Criss an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Limited Series.

Hollywood is co-created by Murphy and Ian Brennan and is being described as “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.” The series will also star Two-time Grammy winner Patti LuPone, Holland Taylor (The Practice), Jeremy Pope (Ain’t Too Proud), Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory). and Joe Mantello (Wicked).

The series is the newest addition to Ryan Murphy’s long-list of ongoing projects that he is currently developing and producing for Netflix as part of his massive multi-year deal  with the streaming service. These projects include the dark comedy series The PoliticianRatched, a prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) as a younger version of the cruel Nurse Ratched; and the film adaptation of hit Broadway musical The Prom featuring a star-studded cast led by Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman; and five different projects that was recently announced.
