Supergirl Season 5 Adds Jennifer Cheon Garcia In New Villain Role

According to Variety, Jennifer Cheon Garcia (Van Helsing, The Drive) has been tapped for a guest-starring role in the upcoming fifth season of The CW’s Supergirl. Garcia is set to portray the role of villain Midnight, who is being described as a physical manifestation of darkness. Her character’s official description reads: “Midnight is a murderous villain released from an otherwordly prison to enact revenge against the person who put her there.”

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist (Glee) as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow ‘Winn’ Schott, Katie McGrath (Merlin) as Lena Luthor, Jess Rath as Brainiac 5, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onnz. Last season, Sam Witwer, Rhona Mitra, and Bruce Boxleitner have joined the cast to portray the roles of Agent Liberty, Mercy Graves, and Vice President Baker, respectively.

In season 5, Benoist will be making her directorial debut with the fifth season’s episode 17. She will be the second cast member to direct an episode of the series following David Harewood, who helm an episode last season

Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner, and Jessica Queller. Supergirl is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The series is set to return on October 6 on The CW.
