American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy took to Instagram to share new promo videos for American Horror Story: 1984, revealing a first look at the cast of characters as filming begins for the upcoming ninth season of FX’s hit horror anthology series. Featuring an 80s-themed camp setting, you can check out the videos below!
Series alums Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and John Carroll Lynch are all set to return to the newest installment of American Horror Story along with new cast members Olympic gold medalist Gus Kenworthy, Zach Villa (Destroyer), and DeRon Horton (Dear White People). Glee vet Matthew Morrison and Pose star Angelica Ross, who have both worked with Murphy’s other shows, have also signed on as series regulars for 1984.

Emmy winner and series alum Sarah Paulson (Ratched, The Goldfinch) will not be starring in the new season along with Evan Peters (X-Men film franchise), the first time that Paulson and Peters haven’t appeared in the series since its inception. Cult and Apocalypse vet Billy Eichner (The Lion King) also revealed in May that we would not return for the upcoming ninth season.

The Twentieth Century Fox Television production was renewed for two more seasons back in the fall of 2018, carrying it through to season 10.
The ninth season of American Horror Story, entitled 1984, is set to premiere on FX on Wednesday, September 18 at 10 p.m. EST!
