In the previous episode of HBO’s Insecure, Issa quit her job, and Molly teamed up with her assertive colleague Taurean. Insecure season 3 episode 5 had Issa and her friends heading to a music festival.
Beyoncé or Bust
Issa was driving for Lyft and running errands for Molly while she figured out what she was going to do next. But the weekend would be devoted to partying with Molly, Kelli, and Tiffany at a local music festival. At the same time, she was waiting for Nathan to text her back after their fun afternoon together.
At the festival, Issa rallied the girls to get ready for a party. They ran into Nathan and his two friends, who gave the girls MDMA and marijuana edibles. The highlight of the trip for them was Beyoncé, so they showed up early to ensure a spot. However, Issa and Nathan went off to get water and ended up on a Ferris wheel. The ride broke down while they were on it, so they had sex in the cage. When the ride started up again, Issa got cell service and found out what happened to her friends.
“Anybody Got a Laptop?!”
Molly and Taurean presented their case to the partners at their firm. When they asked for a brief, Taurean was too busy, so Molly jumped at the chance to do it right away. She had cancelled her weekend plans to work on the brief, but a call from Issa changed her mind.
Before heading out to party, she sent the brief to her superiors and gotten approval. She was free to party for the weekend. But when she finally got cell service back, Molly realized they sent her last-minute notes. Unfortunately, she was still feeling the effects of the drugs and couldn’t properly address them.
“Who’s Laughing? Shut Up. It’s You.”
While waiting for Beyoncé, Kelli attacked a girl sitting on someone’s shoulders. Tiffany and Molly joined her in the fight, and the three of them were kicked out of the festival. After security cut their wristbands off, Kelli heard Beyoncé’s set start and tried to make a run for it. The security guard tased her.
One Last Hurrah
Since Tiffany was pregnant, she hadn’t partaken in the MDMA, but she later confessed to eating some of the pot brownie. She was an emotional mess, calling Derrick while crying in the closet. The next day, she was looking for water in the Airbnb they had rented. Issa volunteered to go to the store, and Tiffany went with her. In the car, Tiffany confessed she had been feeling left out. Issa assured her they would always be friends. Things were just different with a baby on the way. Issa went into 7-Eleven to get Tiffany some water, and she ran into Lawrence and Chad.
