Mindhunter Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

Mindhunter Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

In the previous episode of Netflix’s Mindhunter, a child’s body was found on a property that Nancy was showing, and Holden learned of the murders of several African-American boys in Atlanta. In Mindhunter Season 2 Episode 4, Holden went back to Atlanta with Bill to help with a kidnapping, while Dr. Carr and Gregg went to interview a dead killer’s accomplice.

Experiments

Holden orchestrated experiments to start developing a profile for a predator in Atlanta. He had a black agent offer money to young black boys to see if they willingly went in the car with him. They did. Next, he had Gregg try to entice black children to come with him. The children were suspicious of him, and the adults in the neighborhood told him to leave. Holden concluded that whoever was abducting and murdering black children in Atlanta was a black man in his 20s to 30s.

Mindhunter Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

Bill and Holden went to Atlanta to assist in a kidnapping of another black child. The ransom was too small, and Holden insisted that the case would not just be a kidnapping. The lead investigator didn’t seem too concerned with the case and was convinced his day would end early. The safety commissioner  arrived, and Holden explained his theory of a black male predator in Atlanta. When the victim’s mother never received a phone call for the ransom, the mayor pulled the plug. He was trying to grow Atlanta and invite commerce into the city. He didn’t want the FBI’s involvement to draw negative attention to the city.

Mindhunter Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

Wendy went on a date with Kay, a confident bartender. Kay took her bowling, and the two talked. Wendy told her about a relationship with a female professor in grad school. She asked if Kay had any other ambitions. Kay explained that she liked the honesty that comes with bartending. She confessed that she blew up her marriage. She wasn’t ready to be a mother or a wife.

With Bill and Holden in Atlanta, Wendy and Greg flew to Texas to interview Elmer Wayne Henley, Jr. He had helped Dean Corll, the Candy Man, abduct, torture, rape, and kill his young male victims. Gregg stumbled through the interview. Wendy eventually was able to get him to talk once she hit on Henley seeing Corll as a father figure. She got him talking by admitting she had a relationship with an older woman. Gregg assumed that she made up the story to get him talking.

Born or Bred

When Bill arrived home, the police were there, and Nancy was in tears. The group of older boys that Brian hung around had killed the little boy. Brian had suggested the location to them and gotten the key out of the lockbox at the property.
