Krypton Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

Wegthor

Val is disgusted by Jax’s execution of Lyta. He tells Jax that he joined the fight against Zod to give people freedom and hope, not to become a terrorist. If they are to win this war, then they’ll need the people’s support. Val cannot support replacing one ruthless tyrant with another. He rallies the rebels into joining him in finding a more peaceful path forward.

Val contacts Zod to apologize and inform him that Jax is no longer in charge of the rebellion. Zod demands that Val return Jax to Kandor for punishment. Failure to do so will result in Zod wiping out the rebellion on Wegthor.

Jax insists that she has no problem being seen as a monster because she is willing to do what’s necessary when others won’t. She has tried to keep Val from having to make the tough decisions and from getting blood on his hands, but no more. Jax escapes with a cache of gravity bombs that she rigs to destroy the space elevator station. She gives Val the detonator and a choice — blow the station, killing a few innocents and saving the rebellion, or save the station, allowing Zod’s forces to wipe out the rebellion.

Val contacts Zod again. Zod demands Jax be handed over. In doing so, Val will be allowed to rejoin the Science Guild under Zod and work for him. The rest of the rebels, however, will be killed for treason. Seeing there is no peaceful path forward with Zod, Val detonates the bombs, destroying the space elevator station. Zod is effectively cut off from Wegthor.

The Enemy of My Enemy

Seg, Jayna, and Dev feel Lyta’s death deeply. Brainiac is disgusted by the show of emotion. The only way they’ll survive, he and Seg, is to move forward rationally. There is no way that Seg can defeat Zod without Brainiac’s help. The crew intercepts Nyssa upon her arrival on Kandor, where she is to be killed by the Sagitari and the codex taken to Zod. The group forms a plan to save Cor from Zod.

Nyssa presents herself to Zod. She has locked the codex and it can only be accessed with her voice. Any attempt to open the codex by anyone else will destroy it. Once she has been given Cor, Nyssa unlocks the codex, which Val has deactivated so that it can not be weaponized. Zod is impressed. He offers Nyssa a chance to work for him to end the rebellion, promising her a colony to govern once Krypton begins conquering new worlds. Nyssa opts instead to take Cor and leap from the balcony… into Seg’s awaiting skimmer.

The shots Zod fired at the skimmer cause it to malfunction over the outlands. Seg is forced to trust Brainiac to make the repairs, allowing him, Nyssa, and Cor to arrive out the outpost safely. Brainiac tells Seg to go to Brainiac’s ship. There, he will give Seg the tools he needs to defeat Zod. Seg doesn’t trust Brainiac, but knows that this is the only possible way to ensure the safety of those he cares about.

Doomsday Weapon

Zod’s technicians believe they were able to access enough of the codex’s information to power a new weapon that Zod had commissioned. It remains, however, theoretical. Zod takes the weapon to the outlands for field testing, following earlier reports to the cave where Doomsday is hidden.
