Designated Survivor Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

In the previous episode of Designated Survivor, Emily discovered that Lorraine had been monitoring Moss’s phone and that he hadn’t known about the virus plot. In the season 3 finale of Designated Survivor, President Kirkman reflected on the day before the election as he spoke with Dr. Louden.

The Right Thing

After seeing a lawyer friend of hers, Emily went to Kirkman with the audio files from Lorraine’s computer. She didn’t explain where she got them from, on the advice of counsel.From them, it was clear that Moss didn’t know about the plot. However, he didn’t come forward with the information on the day before Election Day. Instead, the messaging stayed on course. Emily was clearly disappointed in the president as she had wrongfully assumed that Kirkman would have done the right thing, damned the cost.

On Election Day, it was clear that Kirkman would win. Lorraine had been suspicious that Emily knew and pressed Dontae for information. That night, Lorraine had Myles slip into campaign headquarters to remove all traces of Pegasus on her computer. The FBI caught him and arrested Lorraine at the victory party.

On Election Day, Kirkman asked Dr. Louden over, fresh from the polls, since he’d been having trouble sleeping. Kirkman explained what had gone on the day before when Emily had given him the flash drive. He rationalized his decision to delay coming forward. Though he believed it was real, he said he couldn’t know for sure. Even if it was real, Kirkman didn’t want to reward Moss for pivoting to the conservative side to get ahead. Dr. Louden was disappointed in Kirkman and doubted his vote.

Though Moss eventually conceded, during his speech, he promised that he would publicly speak more about what had transpired in the months to come.

After Kirkman won, Aaron asked Isabel for a second chance. She told him no, not because of his infidelity but his lack of belief in her abilities. Earlier, Harper had promoted Isabel to Deputy Chief of Staff and empowered her to take initiative. That made her realize that Aaron hadn’t taken her seriously, when her boss had. Isabel reconciled with Emily, noting that it wasn’t right to blame her for Aaron’s infidelity.

Mars gathered congressional leadership to send them a message. They needed to play fair with them on negotiations or else they would be primaried.

Lynn had looked at the rehab bill. She was thankful that they could afford it but recognized that most people were not so lucky. Mars pointed out that her father’s congressional seat was available. He thought she should run, though Lynn had doubts. She was a recovering drug addict, but Mars felt that could work in her favor. She could advocate for people like her that couldn’t afford the care that she could.
