The Flash deals with Barry’s decision to return Nora to the future in the previous episode. Iris accuses Barry of acting on emotion and is upset that he didn’t talk with her before making a decision regarding their family on his own. Barry can’t get past the fact that Nora is working with Thawne, which Iris can overlook because Nora is their daughter. Barry retorts that if this had been anyone but their daughter, Iris would side with Barry, but she can’t because Nora has finally decided that she doesn’t hate her mother. The two part on bad terms, with Iris staying at Joe and Cecile’s house for a while/
Snow Pack
Icicle returns, breaking into Tannhauser Labs and stealing a device that will allow him to replicate the process that created Killer Frost. He abducts Caitlin and Dr. Tannhauser, locking them in a Tannhauser site that exists off the grid, where classified experiments were conducted. Caitlin is cuffed in metahuman dampeners. She and her mother bicker over how to escape, just like they’ve bickered over everything for years. Caitlin is still upset that her mother lied about Thomas being dead. Dr. Tannhauser is hurt that Caitlin ran away from her all of Caitlin’s adult life.
Icicle draws a vial of Caitlin’s blood and disperses an aerosol serum to turn Dr. Tannhauser into a cold-powered metahuman. Caitlin escapes her restraints and Killer Frost battles Icicle. Icicle forces Killer Frost to either save her mother or chase him. Barry arrives and saves Dr. Tannhauser, allowing Killer Frost to pursue Icicle. Icicle overcomes Killer Frost and is about to killer her when Thomas regains control over Icicle, saving his daughter.
While the family reunites, Cicada attacks. Thomas sacrifices himself in order to save Killer Frost by stepping in front of Cicada’s dagger. Cicada escapes with the device and plans to use it to revive the younger version of herself who she abducted from the hospital.
Family Shouldn’t Leave Family
Iris decides to use a time sphere to go to the future to see Nora again. Ralph tags along, getting Nora into the prison to find Nora with Thawne. Nora asked Thawne how he’s been able to travel in time without other speedsters detecting him. Thawne helps Nora tap into the negative speed force by using her rage and negative emotions as fuel for her speed instead of the light inside of her. When Iris confronts Nora, Nora becomes enraged, which allows her to tap into the negative speed force and travel back to 2019. Thawne tells Iris that the only way to help Nora is for Iris and Barry to do so untied as Nora’s family.
When Nora returns, she sits down with Barry and the two agree to work together to save Nora from Thawne’s manipulations. Iris tells Barry that while Thawne is undoubtedly using Nora, the only person she’s ever seen look at Nora like Thawne does is Barry. Iris thinks that maybe Thawne actually cares about Nora and is trying to help her after all.
