In the previous episode of NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gina decided to leave the Nine-Nine to pursue her own business venture. Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 episode 4 followed Gina after she gives her two-week notice.
First Movement
Gina called a meeting at the Nine-Nine to let everyone know her decision. She would be doing a dance in four movements, and each person would have their “own Gina moment”. First, Gina and Holt played chess. As they played, Holt tried convincing her that leaving without a plan was a bad idea. He used his career path as an example, but Gina pointed out that plans don’t always work out, like his run for commissioner. She convinced Holt that she was ready to go out on her own.
Second Movement
Amy, Rosa, and Gina went out to lunch. Rosa seemed unfazed while Amy was tearful and worried about them not hanging out. Amy gave Gina a book of her tweets. However, Gina wanted Amy to burn it in a barrel. Amy couldn’t do it. Gina’s moment with her was to tell Amy to be herself and do what she wants. Rosa started crying, which was her Gina moment.
Third Movement
Jake was planning Gina’s “Ginarama” party. He investigated booking extravagant venues like The Met and Ellis Island and wanted to get a celebrity to show up. He heard that Mario Lopez would be at The Manhattan Club. Jake and Gina dressed in fancy clothes and pretended to be rich. Using a fake call to “Daddy”, they got their way inside. Eventually, Jake was able to get Mario Lopez to show up at the party. However, Gina turned him away at the door. She enjoyed turning a celebrity away, but her Gina moment with Jake was that she didn’t need a fancy party with celebrities. She only wanted to have a good time hanging out with her friends.
Fourth Movement
The following week, Gina was supposed to be gone, but she kept making excuses to spend the day at the Nine-Nine. Gina gave the Boyle mother dough back to Charles and showed Holt her filing system. Everyone was concerned that she was having second thoughts. Also, Terry was upset since he didn’t get a Gina moment. On Friday, they found a gold statue of Gina in the bullpen along with a video. Gina had been stalling because the statue hadn’t arrived yet. She’d also gotten Terry an international yogurt club membership. Gina was really leaving this time, and everyone applauded the video.
