Investigation Discovery’s true crime documentary The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph is set to release in July. The Nevada man has been married six times, but four of them are dead. He got the infamous name “Black Widower,” as many of the wives died under mysterious circumstances. The ID documentary will dive into the twisted story that explores whether Randolph was “just unlucky in love,” as he claims to be, or “a calculated killer driven by greed.”
Who is Black Widower Thomas Randolph & what did he do?
Per KSNV, Randolph, now 69, was charged with the murder of his wife, Sharon, and Michael Miller. The latter was allegedly hired to kill her in 2008 in Las Vegas. The prosecution team had argued that Randolph employed his friend to kill Sharon to collect her life insurance.
The outlet reported that Randolph was initially convicted in 2017, which resulted in a death sentence. However, on an appeal from the convict, the Nevada Supreme Court overturned the guilty verdict. According to the justices, prosecutors should not have used evidence during Randolph’s trial that he was also accused of the murder of his second wife in 1986 in Utah. However, Randolph was convicted for a second time last year after the high court remanded him to Clark County District Court for a new trial. He received 60 years to life in prison.
On the other hand, Randolph has continued to maintain his innocence. He re-tells the events of the night when Sharon was murdered in the new documentary. The trailer sees him recall the night the two returned home after their Mother’s Day dinner. It is followed by the 911 emergency call where Randolph reported the death of his wife in an apparent home invasion. Furthermore, the trailer shows Randolph’s daughter admitting she doesn’t know if her dad is innocent or guilty. It is then contemplated, “What version of the events is the truth?”
The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph premieres on Monday, July 15, 2024, on ID. Alternatively, the documentary can be streamed on Max.
