Laci Peterson was killed just a month before she could become a mother. She was 27 years old. Peterson disappeared on December 23, 2002. According to Fox News, her husband, Scott Lee Peterson, said the last time he saw her wife was at 9:30 am, the same day. Scott left home for fishing, and Laci had vanished into thin air by the time he got home. Three months after her disappearance, her remains began to show up piece by piece.
Peterson and her unborn son were killed and thrown into the San Francisco Bay. The remains of their bodies washed ashore in April 2003. Furthermore, Peterson’s corpse did not have her head, neck, forearms, and half a leg.
Peterson’s husband, Scott, was convicted of first-degree murder of his wife and second-degree murder of his unborn baby. He is currently serving life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
In 2004, Roger Young directed a movie titled The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story, that showcased this tragic case. It starred Dean Cain, Sarah Brown, Tracy Middendorf, and Tom O’Brien. However, in 2017, A&E Networks released a miniseries about this case titled, The Murder of Laci Peterson.

How was Laci Peterson killed?
Officials arrested Laci’s husband Scott Lee Peterson a few days after the incident. During his arrest, he was carrying his brother’s passport and $10,000 in cash. Furthermore, he was even having an affair with a woman named Amber Frey. Frey later even came forward and testified against Scott.
In Scott’s trial, prosecutors argued that after murdering his wife, Scott took his fishing boat and dumped Laci’s body in San Francisco Bay. Scott Lee Peterson’s defense team did try a lot to prevent their client from going to jail. However, the court sentenced him to death in 2004. The charges against him were first-degree murder of his wife and second-degree murder of his unborn son.
During Scott’s trial, Laci’s mother Sharon Rocha said,
“There is unbearable sadness in my life. The Scott I knew is the one Laci loved and I entrusted him with her. You made a conscious decision to kill Laci and Conner. You planned and executed their murders. Yes, You did. You threw them away like a piece of garbage.”
She even added,
“You are lazy, spoiled, self-centered and a coward. But above all you are an evil murderer. Not even Satan will claim to have a part in your make-up. You Scott are proof that evil can lurk anywhere. You don’t have to look evil to be evil.”
As mentioned before, Scott was sentenced to death. However, in December 2021, the court changed its decision to a life sentence, without the possibility of parole. He is 51 and NPR reports that he is at the Mule Creek State Prison.
