Is she still behind bars? Let’s take a look at the entire case.
Jeffrey Wright murder: Is Susan Wright Still in Prison?
Recently, authorities released Susan Wright from prison on parole. On December 30, 2020, authorities released Wright from the Lane Murray Unit in Gatesville, Texas. She completed more than 16 years of her 20-year sentence.
In 2004, the court convicted the housewife and mother after prosecutors proved that she had stabbed her husband multiple times causing his death. The prosecution also revealed that Susan Wright tied her husband to their bed before she killed him. Reports suggest that she tried to cover up the crime by painting her room. However, when the investigations began, Wright turned herself in and confessed to her crime.
Wright claimed she took this drastic step in self-defense after enduring years of abuse from her husband. Irrespective of that, the court found her guilty on the charges of murder and sentenced her to 20 years in prison. Now out on parole, Susan Wright must adhere to strict parole conditions until February 2024. She must attend anger control counseling and training, and she must hold a job.
