Considered one of the most prolific serial killers in the US history, Samuel Little terrorized the nation for more than four decades. Targeting vulnerable women in high-crime areas, the serial killer focused on individuals like sex workers and drug addicts.
Little would beat or render them unconscious before strangling them to death. However, in 2012, the police charged him for three Los Angeles murders from the 1980s. The serial killer went on to confess his crimes and claimed that he killed more than 90 people in his life.
Although the court found Samuel Little guilty and gave him a life sentence in prison, police had to reportedly wait for decades to be able to arrest him.
Serial killer Samuel Little caught using DNA evidence
According to reports, Samuel Little began killing in 1970 by allegedly murdering Mary Jo Brosley in Homestead, Florida. As time passed, the list of victims continued to grow as the serial killer went on to frighten the entire country by brutally killing several young women. According to Little, he allegedly claimed the lives of over 90 victims.
In September 2012, after four decades of terror, the police arrested Samuel Little on a drug charge in a Louisville homeless shelter. Detectives traced Little through his social security payments to Louisville, while the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force located and arrested him. As per the procedure, the authorities used DNA testing to feed his record in the database. DNA testing proved to be crucial, confirming Little’s role in the late 1980s murders of three women.
Authorities reportedly charged Little for the murders of Linda Alford, Guadalupe Duarte Apodaca, and Audrey Nelson Everett. On September 25, 2014, Little was convicted and received a life sentence without parole. Later, Little admitted to committing over 93 murders in total. Having spent eight years behind bars, Little passed away on December 30, 2020. He was 80 and reportedly suffered from diabetes, heart problems, and other health complications.
