Natalie Portman (Jackie, Black Swan) is Lena, a biologist and ex soldier who joins an expedition to the mysterious Area X, with the goal of discovering her husband’s fate. Along with four other highly capable women, they venture into the alluring green landscape only to have their skills and resolve tested by mutated flora and fauna and something beyond perception.
Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later) has applied his creative vision once again to write and direct this film adaptation of critically acclaimed author Jeff VanderMeer’s award-winning Southern Reach Trilogy series of books. Also starring in the movie is Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, Anomalisa), Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok, Creed), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin, Deepwater Horizon), Tuva Novotny (Eat Pray Love, ID:A) and Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Inside Llewyn Davis).
Annihilation is out in theaters on February 23, 2018.
