I, Tonya Interviews with Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan and Allison Janney
The NEON/30WEST film I, Tonya opened in New York and Los Angeles on December 8 and will hit theaters around the country in subsequent weeks. The film tells the story of controversial figure skater Tonya Harding and the attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan in 1994. We recently got a chance to chat with the cast of the film, including Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Martian), and Allison Janney (The West Wing, Mom). You can check out our I, Tonya interviews in the player below!
Based on unbelievable but true events, I, Tonya is the darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history. Though Harding was the first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition, her legacy has forever been defined by her association with an infamous, ill-conceived and worse-executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan in 1994.
Featuring an iconic turn by Margot Robbie as the fiery Harding, a mustachioed Sebastian Stan as her impetuous ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, and a tour-de-force performance from Allison Janney as her acid-tongued mother LaVona Golden, I, Tonya is an absurd, irreverent and piercing portrayal of Harding’s life and career in all of its unchecked––and checkered––glory. Paul Walter Hauser, Julianne Nicholson, Bobby Cannavale and Mckenna Grace also star.
The film was directed by Craig Gillespie (The Finest Hours, Million Dollar Arm) from a screenplay by Steven Rogers (P.S. I Love You).
