CS sits down with the Kung Fu Panda 3 cast to discuss what might be Po’s very last big screen adventure
This Friday, DreamWorks Animation‘s Kung Fu Panda 3 charges into theaters with what might be Po’s very last big screen adventure! In the player below, Jack Black joins fellow members of the Kung Fu Panda 3 cast for video interviews with ComingSoon.net. Among the topics discussed is the notion that the Kung Fu Panda franchise might end as a trilogy. In addition to Black, we spoke with J.K. Simmons (who voices the new film’s big bad, Kai), Kate Hudson (who plays a new panda named Mei Mei), and Dustin Hoffman (who returns as Master Shifu). Check out the full Kung Fu Panda 3 cast interviews in the player below!
The Kung Fu Panda 3 cast also includes the returning Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong and Randall Duk Kim with Bryan Cranston playing Po’s biological father, Li.
Also included in the below video is an incredible story from Dustin Hoffman about a sequel that almost happened. The Kung Fu Panda franchise is the only example of the two-time Academy Award winner returning for a sequel (although the actor did appear in Jay Roach’s comedy sequel, Meet the Fockers, he did not appear in the prior film). Hoffman explains how Mike Nichols, prior to the director’s tragic passing in 2014, approached him with a sequel idea for The Graduate. Find out what it would have been about in the player below!
In the new film, Po, renowned for his now legendary adventures of awesomeness, must face two hugely epic, but very different threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home. When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!
Kung Fu Panda 3 is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni, and features a script by series writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.
The first two chapters of DreamWorks Animation’s critically-acclaimed Kung Fu Panda franchise opened in 2008 and 2011. Both films were honored with Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature Film. Together, they have generated approximately $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
