Amy Poehler and Tina Fey deliver a Sisters Star Wars: The Force Awakens parody featurette
Universal Pictures’ upcoming comedy Sisters has the distinction of opening the same day as a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While we’re sure the studio has no intention of beating the space saga to #1 that weekend, they’re hoping the goofy female-driven comedy will provide adequate counter-programming and they have even gone ahead and parodied the famous Force Awakens behind-the-scenes video that premiered at Comic-Con this past summer. Check out the Sisters Star Wars parody featurette in the player below for a hilarious play on the whole push for “practical effects”!
From Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore, Sisters follows two disconnected siblings who are summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high school-style party for their classmates, which turns into the cathartic rager that a bunch of ground-down adults really need.
The film also stars Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin.
Fey produces the comedy alongside Jay Roach (Meet the Parents series) and John S. Lyons (Austin Powers in Goldmember), and Poehler executive produces alongside Jeff Richmond and Brian Bell from a script by Paula Pell (“Saturday Night Live,” “30 Rock”).
The Sisters Star Wars marketing mashup seems to continue on Twitter where the comedy is attempting to introduce the hashtag #YouCanSeeThemBoth. If you haven’t already seen it, be sure to check out the Sisters trailer. ComingSoon.net also had the opportunity to visit the Sisters set and you can click here to check out our full report.
