Check out our exclusive video interviews with the 99 Homes cast, including Andrew Garfield, Michael Shannon and Laura Dern
Best known to many for headlining Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man films, Andrew Garfield is back in theaters this Friday leading the 99 Homes cast in a very different big screen take on power and responsibility. The latest feature from Man Push Cart and Goodbye Solo director Ramin Bahrani (who co-wrote the screenplay with Amir Naderi), 99 Homes offers a troubling look at the consequences of an American dream gone wrong.
99 Homes follows charismatic and ruthless businessman, Rick Carver (Shannon), who is making a killing by repossessing homes – gaming the real estate market, Wall Street banks and the US government. When he evicts Dennis Nash (Garfield), a single father trying to care for his mother (Dern) and young son (newcomer Noah Lomax), Nash becomes so desperate to provide for his family that he goes to work for Carver – the very man who evicted him in the first place. Carver promises Nash a way to regain his home and earn security for his family, but slyly seduces him into a lifestyle of wealth and glamour. It is a deal-with-the-devil that comes with an increasingly high cost – on Carver’s orders, Nash must evict families from their homes. As Nash falls deeper into Carver’s web, he finds his situation grows more brutal and dangerous than he ever imagined.
ComingSoon.net recently sat down with the 99 Homes cast to discuss their intense approach to the truly topical story and, in the player below, you can check out our conversations with Dern, Garfield and Shannon.
The 99 Homes cast also includes Tim Guinee and J.D. Evermore. A Broad Green Pictures release, 99 Homes arrives in theaters Friday, September 25.
