As expected David Michod‘s The Rover will be playing the 2014 Cannes Film Festival (see the full lineup here) and A24 isn’t letting the moment go unnoticed as they’ve released a new trailer and a pair of character posters featuring stars Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce.
Set in a world ten years following the collapse of society, rule of the law has disintegrated and life is cheap. The Rover follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce) as he travels the desolate towns and roads of the outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind a wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that still matters to him. Michod also wrote the film based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton.
A24 will release the film stateside in New York and Los Angeles on June 13 with a nationwide roll out on June 20.
