A storm hits the red planet in a new The Martian clip
On the heels of an extended commercial and two new TV spots released over the holiday weekend, 20th Century Fox has brought online the first The Martian clip. In it, the all-star crew of the Ares 3 comes up against a dangerous storm on the surface of the red planet. Check it out in the player below, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.
Based on a best-selling novel, The Martian features a star-studded cast that also includes Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty), Kristen Wiig (Welcome to Me, The Skeleton Twins), Kate Mara (“House of Cards,” Fantastic Four), Michael Pena (Fury, End of Watch), Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom,” Dumb and Dumber To), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Children of Men) and Donald Glover (“Community,” Mystery Team).
The Martian is produced by Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Michael Schaefer, Mark Huffam and Aditya Sood.
Last month, ComingSoon.net got to preview the first 50 minutes of The Martian as part of a special press day hosted at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. You can check out video from the event right here.
