Fox Searchlight Debuts New Mistress America Trailer

Watch Greta Gerwig star opposite newcomer Lola Kirke in the new Mistress America trailer

Fox Searchlight Pictures has just revealed a new trailer for next week’s Mistress America, the new comedy drama starring Greta Gerwig and newcomer Lola Kirke. The film reteams Gerwig with Academy Award-nominated director Noah Baumbach, who previously worked with the star on both Greenberg and Frances Ha. Baumbach and Gerwig also collaborated on the Mistress America screenplay. Take a look at the result in the player below, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

In Mistress America, Tracy (Kirke) is a lonely college freshman in New York, having neither the exciting university experience nor the glamorous metropolitan lifestyle she envisioned. But when she is taken in by her soon-to-be stepsister, Brooke (Gerwig) – a resident of Times Square and adventurous gal about town – she is rescued from her disappointment and seduced by Brooke’s alluringly mad schemes.

“Noah’s distinct cinematic voice and keen sense of humor are an ideal fit for what we do at Searchlight,” said Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Nancy Utley and Stephen Gilula when they acquired Mistress America earlier this year. “We are thrilled to be working with Noah and Greta and couldn’t be more excited to be taking their new collaboration to audiences.”

Produced by Baumbach and Gerwig alongside Scott Rudin, Lila Yacoub and Rodrigo Teixeira, Mistress America is set to hit select theaters August 14.
