One of the acclaimed films that premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden’s Mississippi Grind, starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn, has released its first trailer and a new poster as well.
In the movie, recent Emmy nominee Ben Mendelsohn (for Netflix’s “Bloodline”) plays Gerry, a down-on-his-luck gambler whose fortune begins to change when he meets Ryan Reynolds’ Curtis, a charismatic poker player who convinces Gerry to go on a road trip down the Mississippi River to attend a high stakes poker game in New Orleans.
It’s the new movie from the filmmakers behind Half Nelson (for which Ryan Gosling received an Oscar nomination) and It’s Kind of a Funny Story.
Also starring Sienna Miller, Analeigh Tipton, Robin Weight and Alfre Woodard, Mississippi Grind is scheduled for release by A24 on September 25 but will be available on DIRECTV on August 13.
